Anti-Bump Cylinders.
Lock bumping, also called key bumping or bump keying is a lock picking technique used to unlock standard pin tumbler cylinders with a bump key.
The bumping method could be misused by criminals to gain unlawful access with a bump key and is a growing problem globally. Bumping attacks are becoming widespread as bump keys can be used to unlock most standard cylinder locks which are not bump resistant.
The bumping method has become common knowledge through media reports & popularity on the internet.
Bump resistant device
The CISA Astral S Euro cylinders are fabricated with a patented laminate, snap resistant steel core to provide flexural snap and pull resistance. A key benefit of this feature is that on double cylinders the snap resistance is incorporated into both sections allowing the cylinder to be fitted either way round, whilst still maintaining its security. Other snap resistant cylinders on the market only have the snap resistance built into the external section and without a visual indicator of which end this is they are often installed incorrectly leaving the external cylinder vulnerable to attack.
A BKP bump resistant device is built-in as standard, as well as hardened steel pins and drivers to protect from drilling. The cylinders’ unique construction will withstand drilling, picking, bumping and snapping.
