Alarm Batteries.

Alarm/Security Batteries.

We now stock a range of maintenance-free, rechargeable, sealed lead acid batteries for use in alarm(Intruder) systems, Fire systems, Wirefree burglar alarms, emergency lighting and many other applications.

Alarm Battery

Most alarm systems are fitted with rechargeable batteries in order to maintain the system in the event of a power failure. In general you should fit the largest capacity battery that will fit in the Control Panel (Check User Manual)

As a general guide 2.1Ah batteries are suitable for compact control panels whereas 3.2Ah and the bigger 7Ah batteries will fit inside larger control panels and most blank end-stations.

Battery life is around 5 years for 12v Lead-Acid Batteries.

Battery Safety

Batteries are electrically live at all times, take great care NEVER to short-circuit the battery terminals.

High D.C. voltages, are more dangerous than the mains.

Do not attempt to remove battery lid or tamper with the battery internal workings. VRLA Batteries are “low-maintenance” requiring no electrolyte top-up or measurement of Specific Gravity.

Do not attempt to dismantle the battery. If accidental skin/eye contact is made with the electrolyte, wash or bathe the affected area/part straight away with liberal amounts of clean fresh water and seek IMMEDIATE medical attention.

Disposal/Re-Cycling

Finally, when a battery has reached the end-of-life it must be returned to the point of sale or to a licensed battery dealer for recycling. Please observe the following points

Do not throw batteries in a bin at end-of-life. VRLA batteries contain substances harmful to the environment so return to your supplier or take to your Council tip for disposal.

Never bury in the ground or incinerate at end-of-life. Batteries contain harmful substances making this unsafe.
